Blaise Pascal, the French Mathematician once said " If I Had More Time, I Would Have Written a Shorter Letter". This quote has been attributed to a lot of people including Mark Twain but seems like Pascal was the first to quote it. [Shorter Letter quote]
Taking inspiration from this quote I came up with the following summary to describe me: "As a Data practitioner, I help businesses increase people & process productivity and improve customer relationships leveraging data to drive revenue growth".
Compare this to what I have had in the past:
Data & Analytics Director with a proven track record aligning technology landscape with COO and CIO roadmaps. Passionate about increasing operational efficiency and accurately capturing customer journeys across the enterprise. Looking for a leadership opportunity to drive process optimization and customer experience outcomes.
Having served as a solutions director, solutions architect, project manager, program manager, product owner, data strategy consultant and advisor in the data space since 2007 I am uniquely positioned to leverage data and digitization to drive business outcomes.
I hope you agree with me that my latest attempt is significantly better than the ones I had from the past for 2 reasons:
Firstly, in the previous ones I talk more about me as to what titles I have or how do I align technology landscape rather than talking about how will I add value to the business.
Secondly, the previous ones use language addressed to a functional or domain expert at the company but is not general enough for someone in senior leadership or for that matter anyone at the company to understand.
I tried the new one on my wife and son and they got it right away :-). So I am hoping that I did a good job.
I have to give some of the credit to Bob Dichter who pointed out to me that my language is specific to a functional or domain expert and suggested that I should focus on the CEO, CFO, and COO as the audience of my value proposition to make it general enough and succinct.
Give me a thumbs up and comment if you like my unique value proposition...
